Week in Review (February 16th, 2025)

๐Ÿ‘ฝ Personal

  • Shortly before I left social media, I had created a new way to do my posts. I set up a blog here on Scribbles, and created an Apple Shortcut. I'd make my posts and then have Echofeed post them on Mastodon and Bluesky for me. I liked this method because it allowed me to keep a clean page of all my posts. Well, I've still been using that page and making posts. No one had the link to it because I just assumed people wouldn't be interested in reading my micro thoughts without an easy way to comment. Then I realized, I follow Jason's micro-posts, so maybe someone would want to keep up. So, anyway, here is the link if that's something you are interested in.ย
  • After sitting on it for a week, I finally decided to announce The RSS Haven. I'll be honest, I was terrified that no one would want to join. However, my fears were unfounded as around ten people joined up, and the conversations have been flowing. It's been incredibly rewarding, and I cannot express how grateful and excited I am to have this outlet.
  • I have not one, but TWO job interviews this week! The pay is meh on both, but both seem to be good opportunities, so I'm excited to see how it goes. Of course, one is in person on Wednesday and if Apple Weather is correct, it's supposed to snow... so, I guess we'll just see what happens.
  • I've been playin around with emulators this week and am so excited that I have things up and running well. I even got my RetroPocket 2s working, so its no longer collecting dust.

๐Ÿ‹๏ธHealthy Living

  • I had a great workout on Monday using The Pump app and I had high hopes for a very productive week in my gym, but that didn't happen. Soreness took me out for a day, then I screwed up my sleep schedule and it took a couple of days to get that right. I'm hoping I can do better this week.
  • I stayed under my calories for the week once more.ย

๐Ÿ“บ Watched (A Glimpse at Some of the Stuff I Watched)

  • Buffy the Vampire Slayer (S2 E20 - S3 E2)ย  - Season two is finished, onto season three!
  • Scream VI - I was disappointed when I saw this film in theaters. I LOVED Scream (2022) and I felt like Scream VI just tried too hard at times. The New York setting, didn't feel like New York (at least the way other movies portray New York). I wasn't thrilled the killer reveal and worst, I was really upset with all the stab wounds to the stomach and everyone surviving. With that being said, I went into this movie with much lower expectations, and I found I enjoyed it a lot more the second time around. It's still the second-worst movie in the franchise (Scream 3 has that honor), but it's not a terrible flick. For a sixth slasher sequel, it's pretty darn good.
  • Out Cold - I was working at Blockbuster when we recieved a VHS screener copy of Out Cold. It's one of those early 2000's raunchy comedies that I love. It's stupid, but always makes me laugh. This rewatch was no different.
  • Time Cut - I held off on watching this film because I had a bad feeling about it, and I should have trusted my gut. So, if you take Totally Killer, which is a fantastic time traveling slasher flick, strip it of all the humor, decent kills and fun acting, set it in the 2000s, but don't really do anything to represent the 2000s outside of one scene, and then show almost all your kills off-screen you get Time Cut. What a waste of time. I should have skipped this and rewatched Totally Killer.
  • Deuce Bigelow: Male Gigolo - Well, I've seen this movie more times than I'd like to admit, but it's one of those harmless goofy comedies that is easy to watch. I picked up a DVD of it recently, so I thought I'd try it out.
  • Terminator 3 - I haven't seen this since opening weekend in the theater. I really couldn't remember much about it and now I know why. There is a fantastic action sequence with a crane tearing up a street, but level of camp in this film feels so incredibly out of place. It's a shame, they wasted a good cast, since I really liked Nick Stahl as John Connor. He felt like a natural progression of the character unlike Christian Bale in Salvation.ย
