Week in Review (February 23rd, 2025)
👽 Personal
- Good news on the job front. My interview went really well, so much so, they asked if they could call my references. The following day, they had to reach out, because my last job wouldn't offer any details other than my time of employment, but I got them in contact with someone else and everything went well. Now, I play the waiting game on an offer, which I would guess will take one-to-two weeks.
- I haven't been online as much this week. Part of it was just stress around the job interview, but I also just needed a bit of a break. So, I apologize if I've been a little slow on responding to things.
- I've spent a lot of time downloading, organizing, and playing various emulated games this week. It's been a blast, and really makes me want to start rebuilding my retro collection. Of course, I got out of that hobby fifteen years ago, because it was getting pricey then, but I think this time around I'd only buy the games I really want, and wouldn't bother trying to build a massive collection.
🏋️Healthy Living
- This was a great week for being healthy. I converted to the Lose It app from Fat Secret, cut my calories even further, and eventually took advantage of a discounted lifetime membership to Lose It for $50. I'm super happy with my decision and an app that looks and works much better than FatSecret.
- I got in two fantastic workouts from The Pump. I'm really upping my game and putting everything into every rep.
📺 Watched (A Glimpse at Some of the Stuff I Watched)
- Buffy the Vampire Slayer (S3 E3-E7) - Season three starts off so strong. If I remember correctly, this is my favorite season.
- Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers - Arguably the most disliked entry in the franchise, but I am a fan. This was my first Halloween movie, meaning I discovered the franchise in 1994/1995, and Halloween 6 was in theaters. I remember being blown away and begging my father to take me. He did not, but I rented it as soon as I found it at Blockbuster and despite the dull storyline I really love the look and vibe of the picture. There is something beautiful about the way it's filmed, the trashiness of the Myers house, and even how Michael is presented that I think is lost when people review this film. They focus on the insane cult storyline, and sort of miss the rest of the film that I think comes together nicely. Then again, maybe it's just nostalgia talking.
- Arrow (S3 E6-8) - I really forgot how much I do like this show, and we get the second Flash (well, first Flash in costume) crossover episode and I love how fun it is. They really play on how different the villains are and even the cities where they take place, and how that correlates to the amount of violence that each protagonist has to dish out.
- Charmed (S1 E1-3) - I was working on cleaning up files on my computer and organizing my newly downloaded ROMS and I just needed something to throw on in the background. Charmed won.
- That 90's Show (Last Four Episodes) - A little later on Saturday night, while still organizing some files, I put on That 90's Show. I typically don't count things as being watched, if I'm doing something else, but I don't see myself rewatching this show. It's a shame. It had its moments, but never really accomplished much other than showing that Red and Kitty were truly the anchor of That 70's Show. I will say, screw Netflix for cancelling the show on a cliffhanger. I'm so f'n tired of that BS, and it's why I rarely invest any time in Netflix Originals.
