Week in Review (February 2nd, 2025)

👽 Personal

  • Another quiet week on the job front. No real movement. I'm getting to the point where I'm going to start applying for some part-time work. That'll probably come this week.
  • I watched some of the NASCAR Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium. It's nice to see NASCAR embracing their roots as the sport continues to decline. The racing was better than expected and way better than the LA Coliseum Clash.
  •  I decided to step away from social media for the next month. I can't handle it anymore. I was fooling myself thinking that Mastodon was better, but it's not. I'm sick of the rage, clickbait, and all of that shit. If people want to yell about injustice and how the world is going to hell into the void all day long, well... they can have it. IF and it's a big IF, I go back to social media, it may just be Bluesky which is surprisingly way less dramatic or I'll be clearing off my follow list and starting fresh on Mastodon. Right now, I just need some time away.
  • I put together an .epub of my 2024 posts. Ulysses is so great for this. I have all of my blogs/journals from 2020-2024 in .epubs.

🏋️Healthy Living

  • Another super successful week staying below my calories.
  • I managed to walk around the lake twice this week, which equaled about four miles. That's probably the furthest I've walked in five years. I realized I need some better walking shoes.
  • I lost just under seven lbs in five weeks or so. I'm happy with that.

📺 Watched (A Glimpse at Some of the Stuff I Watched)

  • Buffy the Vampire Slayer (S2 E18-E20)  - My wife and I continued our slow watch of Buffy.
  • The Night Agent (S2 E3) - Another episode down.
  • Arrow (S2 E20-S3 E4) - My rewatch of Arrow made some progress this week.
  • The Flash (S1 E11-12) - Always nice to balance some Arrow out with The Flash.
  • Smallville (S5 E7) - I think I may have finally passed where I stopped watching Smallville when it was airing. I'm excited to see where the show goes.
  • Eddie - I LOVED the NBA in the 90s, and I was so excited to see Eddie in theaters, I convinced my parents to take me the weekend of their wedding. It wasn't a great movie, but I remember enjoying it. I've been on the look out for a copy since it doesn't seem to be available streaming and was excited to run across a DVD at Goodwill last week. It was a nice rewatch, one of those innocent 90s comedies.
  • The Incredible Hulk (2008) - I haven't seen this since it came out and it's not bad. The first half of the film is actually pretty great, but it falls off in the second half. It's a shame Norton didn't work out, I would have liked to see him as Bruce Banner some more.
  • Party Line - I thought this was a slasher, but ended up being more of a 80's thriller. Not bad, but definitely not great. I did love that cheesy saxophone score.
