Week in Review (February 9th, 2025)

👽 Personal

  • I found my first Conan book out in the wild! I was quite excited to see it. I also receive three books in the mail from a kind redditor who bought a lot of books and gave them out for the price of shipping.
  • I bought a new mp3 player and a ton of CDs at the thrift store. It's not a refurbished iPod like I'd want, but it's going to get me by for what I need it for right now, which is mainly something to use while exercising that isn't as bulky/distracting as my phone. I'm actually going to stick to listening to just what I rip from the CDs and not add anything else for the time being.
  • I'm thinking about starting an online project that is a bit larger and more involved than anything I've done before. It's amazing how much time you have when you stop using social media.

🏋️Healthy Living

  • Another week staying below my calories.
  • I got in some real serious workouts this week. Probably the most serious and intense I've lifted in quite some time.
  • I started doing some short meditation once more. I decided against using the Happier app, but instead I just used the Oak app for a timer.

📺 Watched (A Glimpse at Some of the Stuff I Watched)

  • Buffy the Vampire Slayer (S2 E18-E20)  - My wife and I continued our slow watch of Buffy.
  • The Night Agent (S2 E3) - Another episode down.
  • Arrow (S3 E5-E7) - My rewatch of Arrow made some progress this week.
  • That 90's Show (S2 E8 - S3 E3) - This show is far from great, but I enjoy it. The first half of season 2 was rough, but it really started picking up into season three. Shame it's been cancelled.
  • George and Mandy's First Marriage (S1 E9) - Another modern sitcom that is a little on the stupid side, but I enjoy it. It actually prompted me to watch Young Sheldon after the first episode aired, and I had no idea it was a spin-off. Young Sheldon was great until the final season, when it went off the rails hard. It's also never good when the least interesting character is the person the show is named after.
  • Pop-Up Video - I used to love watching Pop Up Video and I found a bunch of episodes on Archive.org. It's my go to show when I can't figure out what I want to watch.
  • Primal (S1 E1-2) - So, this show interested me when it debuted, but I never got around to watching it. A podcast I listen to was going to cover it and said the show had elements of sword and sorcery, so I gave it a shot. The first episode almost gutted me. I wasn't expecting the brutality nor tone of the show. I actually stopped after the first episode and waited until the next day to watch the next. It's crazy how I can watch a super violent horror film and feel nothing, but a simple animated show with no dialogue and barely any music manages to gut me.
  • Scream (2022) - This is my first time rewatching this film, and it holds up so well. I really believe this is the second-best movie in the franchise. It just checks all the boxes for me.
