Week in Review (March 2nd, 2025)
👽 Personal
- My wife had a minor car accident on Tuesday. Luckily, the damage was minimal, so much so, I was able to order a new mirror on Amazon and replace it in less than five minutes. There is a deep scratch, but her clear coat was already peeling, so the poor car needs work when we get the funds.
- We made a trip to McKays in Burlington on Friday and I bought a bunch of DVDs, blu-rays, and a few CDs. I also bought an Xbox 360 Slim. It was $26, looked brand new and came with a 250 GB hard drive. I couldn't pass it up. My last 360 died a couple of years ago, and my wife loves to play Simpsons Road Rage, so I was able to make that happen for cheap.
- Once again, I haven't been online much this week. I pop in and check on RSS Haven, and I'll occasionally check my RSS feeds and email on my phone, but I've been enjoying my disconnected time. There's no commentary there, nor any rage, and that's the way I like it.
- I went ahead and deleted my Mastodon account. I took a quick scroll through it and realized, I can't deal with that behavior anymore. It damages my calm. I haven't deleted Bluesky yet, but it was less infuriating as so much of the accounts I follow are comic book related. I'm still not using it, but it'll remain for the time being.
- Today it was a nice 50 degrees, the perfect weather for me to get things done. I changed out my car battery, replaced both my and my wife's air filter, I changed out our windshield wiper blades, and did some cleaning up of the cars. I also took some wax and managed to buff out even more of the scratches from her accident an the car looks pretty damn good, if I may say so.
🏋️Healthy Living
- I had another fantastic week of staying under my calories and really pushing myself with my workouts. I can feel myself getting stronger.
- Thomas introduced me to The Way, a meditation app. Despite having a subscription to Happier, I found The Way to be way more my speed. I'm still working my way through the free teachings, but I have a feeling I'll be paying for a subscription once I reach the end.
📺 Watched (A Glimpse at Some of the Stuff I Watched)
- Buffy the Vampire Slayer (S3 E8) - Very slow week of watching TV with the wife.
- Reacher (S3 E4) - I cannot believe I left Reacher off my list last week. This season adapted one of my favorite books and so far it's been amazing!
- Captain America: The First Avenger - This film was better than I remembered, and I found myself really enjoying it. Chris Evans was so perfectly cast.
- Thor - Another film that was better than I remembered. These early Marvel movies were so good. I credit the direction. They weren't quite "factory made" movies yet, and having someone like Kenneth Branagh adapt something like Thor was brilliant. Same goes with Joe Johnston and Cap.
- Iron Man 2 - And to complete the list of movies that were even better than I remembered, Iron Man 2 was a joy to watch. I honestly couldn't remember anything more than Mickey Rourke slashing the F1 car, but this film is a lot of fun and RDJ is fantastic in it.
