Week in Review - March 30th, 2025

👽 Personal

  • I finished up my second week at my new job, and I have very mixed feelings about the whole thing. There has been some information left out about the job, which soured me a bit, and I was able to dig in and see exactly how dysfunctional and disorganized everything is. This is going to be an uphill battle to get things straightened out, and I don't think I'm paid nearly enough for the task at hand, but I'm thankful to have a job and I'm just going to plug away from the time being.
  • I'm struggling to find interest in watching TV, listening to music, blogging, or even playing video games for an extended period of time. I think this has to do with the new job, and me just trying to find my feet and ground myself. I mean, I really shouldn't complain, because less time in front of the TV is probably for the better, but I tend to replace that with dabbling on my phone or watching YouTube, which for the most part, is not all that helpful.
  • I've given some thought to doing something outside of my creative normal like podcasting or maybe setting up a video channel. It's still just an idea I'm kicking around, but I've enjoyed podcasting in the past, and video was once a passion of mine (a very long time ago) and I think it might do me some good to have a new hobby to learn and play around with.
  • The UFL kicked off this weekend, and I watched bits of all of the games. As usual, the first week is not very good, since these teams don't have near the time together as say the NFL. Still, between the blowouts, there was some decent action (especially the DC/Birmingham game) and I'm sure I'll watch bits and pieces over the next few weeks.
  • The next Avengers cast was announced with lots of familiar names. It was a large cast which is a bit concerning, but I think most concerning is The Russo Brothers who have struggled to put together anything entertaining since their departure at Marvel. Then again, Marvel has shown they absolutely struggle to put the right directors with the right projects these last few years (outside of Deadpool/Wolverine).

🏋️Healthy Living

  • I've officially surpassed fifteen pounds lost and I'm feeling quite good about it. My clothes are fitting better and I can see small changes in my body, most likely due to weight lifting. It's been a slow journey, but a very healthy one and I'm happy to keep this going. At this rate, I should hover just above 200 lbs. by my birthday in late November.
  • I have two workouts left in my current Pump workout: Foundation: Dumbbell Version. Currently, I'm thinking I may repeat this workout, to work on my form and find a bit more balance in the weights I'm lifting. I also would like to invest in an incline/decline bench, since right now I'm just using a flat.
  • I'm working on increasing my protein intake. From what I've read, I should try and eat .6 lb. to 1 lb. of protein for each lb. of my body. I'm coming up short in this, quite significantly on some days.

📺 Watched (A Glimpse at Some of the Stuff I Watched)

  • Reacher (S3 E7-8) - Another great season of Reacher is over. These last two episodes delivered everything I wanted from the show, and my only real complaint is I feel like they didn't quite show how dastardly Paulie was, in comparison with the book. But that is a very minor gripe.
  • Mid-Century Modern (S1E1) - This take on The Golden Girls was better than expected, at least for a guy like me who appreciates sitcoms. I'll be watching more in the coming weeks.
  • The Conners (S7E1) - It saddens me that my favorite TV family is coming to an end. The Conners hasn't always been great (at times it's even been bad), but it's been good enough on most occasions. I look forward to the finale, and I'm so thankful we got seven seasons (well eight if you count Season 10 of Roseanne) with Dan, Darlene, Jackie, and the bunch.
  • Castle (S1 E1-4) - This is a bit of a cheat, since I watched the first three episodes two weeks ago, but I think I watched the entire first season of Castle when it aired, maybe. I definitely didn't see much, despite enjoying the charm of Nathan Fillion and the police procedural genre. I don't see this as something I'm binging, but probably something I'll throw on ocassionally.
  • The Flash (S1) - I can't remember the specific episodes I watched, but this has become my workout show. I saw The Flash from season one til around season four or five. I started back at season one, so it's great to work out to. I sorta remember the plotlines, and I don't need to see the TV every moment. My workouts also take around 40 minutes to complete, so it's been a nice way to make my workouts feel a bit more interesting.
