Week in Review - March 9th, 2025

👽 Personal

  • Well, so begins my final week off before I start my new job. I've spent most of this week trying to prepare by getting things done around the house. I also went clothes shopping, got some new tires put on my wife's car, and did some decluttering. I want things to be as smooth as possible for when I start the new job, because the first few weeks are always rough on me, and I'll be driving the furthest I've driven in quite some time until I get trained.
  • I'm super pumped about the Tony Hawk 3+4 announcement this week. Also surprising was the stand-alone/add-on game anounced for Robocop Rogue City. Peter Weller is back to voice Robo, and while this is expected to be a shorter, more simple game, I'm all for it.
  • I was also happy to see Lex Luger finally get announced as being inducted in the WWE Hall of Fame. The poor guy has deserved it for years, and politics has kept him out. It's just a load of crap that he goes in the same year as Triple H that well... as a wrestler, I don't believe deserves an induction. It's also icky that he pretty much runs the organization and he's inducting himself... sorta. 🤷🏻‍♂️
  • Some days I deal with some back tightness if I sit for a long period of time. Usually, I can pop my lower back one of two ways and it alleviates the pressure. Well, I've been working on stretching out my hamstrings lately. I was using an exercise band, but I wanted a better stretch so I bought one of these cheap nylon yoga/physical therapy straps. It's already paid for itself. It's so nice to have something that I can use to really get a good stretch and I've noticed that if I use it for my hamstring stretch it's really been helping my lower back a lot.

🏋️Healthy Living

  • I'm still killing it. I'm keeping my calories down, I finally crossed the ten pounds lost this week, and my workouts are going harder and harder. I really hope I can keep this momentum with the new job starting.

📺 Watched (A Glimpse at Some of the Stuff I Watched)

  • Reacher (S3 E5) - Another great episode.
  • The 13th Warrior - So, I watched this film when it was released, and I didn't like it. The last few years, I've seen people gushing about what a cult classic it is, and so when I saw a copy on DVD for a dollar I picked it up. I mean, it's Antonio Banderas and John McTiernan, it has to be great right? Wrong. This movie is pretty terrible. It goes from set piece to set piece without any true reason. It's boring and that's never a good thing.
  • Beowulf - Irritated by my watch of The 13th Warrior, I decided to pop in another dollar DVD I picked up, Robert Zemecki's Beowulf. I didn't make it more than twenty minutes. Besides looking like a Playstation 3 cut scene, it was gross, and distracting to watch. I'll be dropping both of these DVDs back off at the thrift store.
  • Daredevil Born Again (S1 E2-3) - I was pleasantly surprised by this. I mean, I loved the Netflix series, but Disney+ just hasn't done a great job of much of anything lately. When the show began, there was a lot of terrible CGI on display, which lowered my expectations dramatically, but once that scene was over the show took off and it felt very close to the original series. It ended up exceeding my expectations, and I hope the show continues on an upward path.
  • Jumanji - Surprisingly, this was a first time watch for me. I was the perfect age when this film was released and I loved Robin Williams, but I've just never seen it completely. So, I gave it a watch and there is a lot to enjoy. I doubt I'll watch it again, but Joe Johnston did a great job and it was a nice relaxing watch.
  • The Truth About Cats and Dogs - Uma Thurman and Janeane Garofalo star in this largely forgotten rom-com from the 90's. I really loved this movie as a teenager, and it's been well over twenty years since I've seen it last. It's not bad. It's definitely nothing special, but it has some touching moments and a nice soundtrack, and a somewhat unique story.
  • Joe's Apartment - Another film that came out when I was the perfect age. The first MTV feature film stars Jerry O'Connell and Megan Ward, and features dancing stop-motion and CGI cockroaches. And as absurd as that sounds, it actually works and is a very fun, yet very dumb, time. I ran across a copy where someone had added in Joe Bob Brigg's Monstervision footage, so it made watching the film that much better.
